Keith Noel 136 Committee is no more!

By CECILY ASSON
THE Keith Noel 136 Committee is no more!

Stephen Cadiz, leader of the Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) said his pressure group would now be known as Yes T&T.

“Yes, we are now shifting focus, hence the reason a change of name,” he told TnT Mirror following the announcement at the proposed smelter plant protest site in Chatham last Thursday.

“The committee will still be there and maybe it will be used for other things like a place for victims of crime who have nowhere to go.”

He admitted that so many murders had been committed since that of his good friend Noel and now thought is was time to move on.

“Yes T&T will be on a broader base and will take on issues like the building of the smelter plant.

“We are going to be a pressure group and put pressure on representatives.

“We’re not sticking for it anymore.”

He said the newly-named committee will be “bringing the Constitution to the people”.

“We’ll be going out to the communities, talking about the Constitution and talking to them in their language (grassroots) so they could understand.”

He said the Yes T&T office has been set up at Robert Street, Woodbrook.

The Keith Noel Committee came into being last year following the death of Cadiz’s friend and employee Keith Noel.

They were the ones behind a massive demonstration in Port of Spain highlighting the state of crime in T&T.
