So angered was Sat by the planned visit, that he reportedly penned
several letters to Prime Minister Patrick Manning and other relevant
authorities begging that Hinn, who is often referred to as a “miracle
healer” be denied entry to TnT.
Several anti-Hinn full-page advertisements were also taken out in
the daily newspapers indicating reasons why the much talked about
pastor should not be taken seriously.
In his many correspondences, Sat reminded the nation that when Hinn
last visited Trinidad, he described the country as a land of voodoo
and one, which possessed demons.
The distraught woman revealed: “Our pundit told us if he only
find out that any one of us went to the Benny Hinn crusade, he will
kick us out the temple.
“And from what I was told, fellow worshippers in different
areas got the same threats.”
The woman who spoke to Mirror attends a temple in Penal area.
According to reports, not only are regular worshippers facing this
dilemma, also said to be under pressure are several Hindu teachers
who have been converted to Christianity and are still in the employ
of the Maha Sabha schools.
“They have been warned too,” our source stated.
She said there are quite a number of “Hindu/Christians”.
“They are the ones who are Hindus but really believe in Jesus
Christ and practice Christianity,” she explained.
The concerned Hindus told Mirror they know that all eyes will be
on them this weekend.
“We know Sat (Maharaj) will be sending out his spies, but
this is a free country and prayers is prayers.
“If we want to hear the word of God from another perspective,
nothing is wrong with that.
One woman noted that while she was not interested in going she felt
the threat issued was done in poor taste.
“Sat himself is asking for something to be done about the
state of the country so if every creed and race can come together
to pray, it will help.
“We need every body right now regardless of religion,”
she ended.
