Pundit issues warning on ‘Miracle Crusade’
Hinn-dus face the boot!

By CECILY ASSON
HINDU devotees who worship in Maha Sabha controlled temples across Trinidad and Tobago have been reportedly warned by their respective pundits against attending the much-publicised Benny Hinn Miracle Crusade which comes off this weekend at the Grand Stand, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain!

Sources told TnT Mirror that members have all been threatened with expulsion from the Hindu community should reports get back to leaders that they were among the thousands expected to be seated in the savannah in the crusade which kicks off tonight (Friday) and ends on Sunday.

Over the last few weeks, Sat Maharaj, secretary General of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha (SDMS) has been speaking out strongly against the second coming of Hinn, a popular American televangelist to local shores.

So angered was Sat by the planned visit, that he reportedly penned several letters to Prime Minister Patrick Manning and other relevant authorities begging that Hinn, who is often referred to as a “miracle healer” be denied entry to TnT.

Several anti-Hinn full-page advertisements were also taken out in the daily newspapers indicating reasons why the much talked about pastor should not be taken seriously.

In his many correspondences, Sat reminded the nation that when Hinn last visited Trinidad, he described the country as a land of voodoo and one, which possessed demons.

The distraught woman revealed: “Our pundit told us if he only find out that any one of us went to the Benny Hinn crusade, he will kick us out the temple.

“And from what I was told, fellow worshippers in different areas got the same threats.”

The woman who spoke to Mirror attends a temple in Penal area.

According to reports, not only are regular worshippers facing this dilemma, also said to be under pressure are several Hindu teachers who have been converted to Christianity and are still in the employ of the Maha Sabha schools.

“They have been warned too,” our source stated.

She said there are quite a number of “Hindu/Christians”.

“They are the ones who are Hindus but really believe in Jesus Christ and practice Christianity,” she explained.

The concerned Hindus told Mirror they know that all eyes will be on them this weekend.

“We know Sat (Maharaj) will be sending out his spies, but this is a free country and prayers is prayers.

“If we want to hear the word of God from another perspective, nothing is wrong with that.

One woman noted that while she was not interested in going she felt the threat issued was done in poor taste.

“Sat himself is asking for something to be done about the state of the country so if every creed and race can come together to pray, it will help.

“We need every body right now regardless of religion,” she ended.
