“She scolds the lawyers, police officers, the court’s
employees and even the persons who appear before her.
“The magistrate tells senior lawyers to shut up and sit down.
“Can you imagine this?
“She roughs up the witnesses and sometimes chases them out
of the court room.
“The magistrates’ clerk does not escape her wrath either
since they are buffed loudly if too much noise emanates while turning
a paper,” a source said.
The source said it was difficult working under those strenuous conditions
with the magistrate.
“She seems not to care about any of us since she is close
to persons in high places.
“But we are embarrassed and think it must stop now,”
Mirror was told.
Sources say the magistrate also acts bias to some of the persons
appearing before her.
The source said Mirror that the magistrate is especially angered
when a defendant tries to explain a situation to her.
“She actually tells the defendant to shut up and sit.
“The defendant then gets the maximum penalty for the offence.
“The magistrate does not take advice from the Clerk of the
Peace or anyone and has openly stated that no one can guide her.
“This is a sad day in the court and it must stop.
“We watch people coming to the court on a daily basis asking
for justice and being treated in this manner.
“Some of the lawyers are disgusted with the magistrates’
conduct and are sending letters with excuses for not being present
in court,” the source said. |
