TOBAGONIANS
have been complaining bitterly about the slow pace of developmental
projects undertaken by the People’s National Movement (PNM)-controlled
Tobago House of Assembly (THA).
TnT Mirror conducted a recent survey to several THA projects and
found that many of them were either at a standstill or have been
progressing at snail’s pace.
The Financial Complex project, which was to be constructed where
the Scarborough Post Office was located, seemed to have grounded
to a halt.
Work started about a year ago on the site.
However, when Mirror visited the area, there was only emptiness
while nearby, heavy equipment could be seen working feverishly in
yet another demolition exercise at the former Scarborough Bus Terminus
Building.
The Shaw Park Cultural Complex was also demolished over a year ago
to make way for a spanking new Cultural Complex.
The site has remained in a state of desolation, rubble and ruin.
Meanwhile, organisers of cultural events face tremendous challenges
to find alternative, suitable venues for shows.
Over two years have passed since the sod-turning ceremony for the
new Crown Point Airport Terminal Building, yet all that has been
completed so far, is the expansion of the tarmac. |
