10,000 TnT flags gobbled up in Germany

A MAD rush for the national flags of Trinidad and Tobago has reached fever-pitched excitements as demand outweights supply.

The stampede for flags quickened as fans here and abroad get ready to cheer on Soca Warriors’ historic first match against Sweden in Dortmund this Saturday.

The more than 10,000 national flags which were taken to Germany by Tourism, Culture, and Sporting officials were all gobbled up by fans when the Soca Warriors arrived for their training camp in Rothenberg earlier this week.

This was revealed by Sports Minister Roger Boynes who spoke to TnT Mirror from the Hilton Hotel in Dortmund on Friday.

“We have no more TnT flags.

“Fans have been begging for flags because of the popularity of the Soca Warriors,” he beamed.

Boynes, who met with the players, coach Leo Beenhakker and other team officials at the Hilton Hotel after their practice match on Friday ahead of Saturday’ showdown, said the Soca Warriors is number one in Germany.

“The players are very popular with the fans and I told them that the whole of Trinidad and Tobago is behind them to put up a good performance,” he added.

The Sports Minister said the marketing of Trinidad and Tobago has been excellent which would see TnT being put on the world map.

Trinidad and Tobago with a population of 1.3 million is the smallest nation ever to appear at the World Cup Finals.

The 2006 World Cup officially kicked off on Saturday.

Thousands here in TnT would be glued to their televisions to take in the three matches that the Soca Warriors will be playing in a bid to qualify for the finals.
