“Fans have been begging for flags because of the popularity
of the Soca Warriors,” he beamed.
Boynes, who met with the players, coach Leo Beenhakker and other
team officials at the Hilton Hotel after their practice match on
Friday ahead of Saturday’ showdown, said the Soca Warriors
is number one in Germany.
“The players are very popular with the fans and I told them
that the whole of Trinidad and Tobago is behind them to put up a
good performance,” he added.
The Sports Minister said the marketing of Trinidad and Tobago has
been excellent which would see TnT being put on the world map.
Trinidad and Tobago with a population of 1.3 million is the smallest
nation ever to appear at the World Cup Finals.
The 2006 World Cup officially kicked off on Saturday.
Thousands here in TnT would be glued to their televisions to take
in the three matches that the Soca Warriors will be playing in a
bid to qualify for the finals. |
