THE maidens all ran over the 1,100m in the first event of the day,
in the Optional Claiming for Three Y.O. and over, with Ronald Maharaj’s
Sara’s Song ridden by Joshua Stephens heading the pack of
Peace of Mind, then Dennyhasaglock to share the $20,400 purse.
The second as the previous was just 100m and $1,200 more, and with
Rajesh Singh in the irons led Ichiban to its second win for the
current year.
And in the third run off, trainer Gary Hearn had good reasons to
be ecstatic; the horses under his charge came in one two three,
Bon Voyage, Sure Wager and Living in Hope fought to an exciting
finish, having failed in the last five of their past races.
