ORANGE
Valley residents were adamant about the removal of a child molester
teacher from the Orange Valley Government School when they held
a protest last Thursday.
Residents alleged that the teacher has been interfering with little
girls for years.
The latest incident reportedly took place on June 20 when the teacher
allegedly touched a six-year-old on her vagina. The story was carried
in the last issue of TnT Friday Mirror.
Protesting parents demanded answers from Principal Dolcin Ragoo.
When the principal did not respond, the protestors broke the gate
and gained entry into the school’s compound.
Inspector Khan and Sgt. Singh of the Couva Police Station responded.
Khan told Mirror he was investigating a protest action in which
a student was assaulted.
He said he would speak with the child’s mother and the investigator.
Sgt. Singh and the child’s mother spoke with Ragoo briefly
during the protest.
Ragoo, however, declined to comment to Mirror. She remained hidden
behind lock-ed doors.
Ousha Morgan, a resident, said the same teacher abused her relative
12 years ago and nothing was done.
Morgan said her relative was faced with ridicule after reporting
the teacher.
Relatives of another young victim refused to allow her to speak
with Mirror due to the details of her experience.
The young girl’s relative expressed disgust at the system
for the manner in which their complaint was handled.
They claimed that the investigator said the file on the matter was
lost.
Seven-year-old Anjali Basdeo, a second year student, told Mirror
she was protesting because a teacher interfered with a student.
She said she was not at school when the incident happened. |
