DOCTOR
Ashram Bissoondath, the man whose name was called in the San Fernando
High Court as the lover of murdered Dr. Chandra Naraynsingh, denies
knowing her.
Bissoondath told TnT Mirror that while Dr. Vijay Naraynsingh’s
father is his cousin, he does not have a close relationship with
the Naraynsingh family.
“Vijay’s grandfather and my mother were brother and
sister,” Bissoondath explained.
“But we are not close.
“They live in North and I live in South; we did not grow up
together.
“I don’t lime with them.”
Bissoondath, however, said he greets Naraynsingh whenever they meet.
The San Fernando-based doctor told Mirror that he only knew Chandra
Naraynsingh from the picture he saw in the newspapers.
“I did not know when Vijay married Chandra Naraynsingh,”
the doctor said.
San Fernando businessman Elton Ramasir and Naraynsingh’s third
wife, Seeromani Maraj Naraynsingh, were committed to stand trial
for the 1994 murder of Chandra Naraynsingh.
They were acquitted last Thursday.
During the trial before Justice Herbert Volney, Shawn Parris, who
killed Chandra outside her workplace at Langmore Health Foundation
at Palmyra Village, told the court that Ramasir told him Chandra
had a relationship with Bissoondath.
But Bissoondath said the claims are unfounded, malicious and evil
allegations against him.
“I never had a relationship with Naraynsingh,” he insisted.
“I wish to further note that I was never interviewed by the
police or the media in relation to Naraynsingh’s murder.
“Neither was I called to testify in the murder trial at the
preliminary hearing at the Magistrates’ Court or in the High
Court.”
The doctor further stated that he was prepared to have a lie-detector
test to clear his “good name”.
“I am prepared to allow my telephone records to be perused
to confirm that I had no association whatsoever with Chandra Naraynsingh,”
the doctor stated.
“This is an attempt to sully my good name and image as a family
man and person serving the community.”
Bissoondath told Mirror that his wife and people who know him do
not believe what they heard from the court.
“People know what I stand for,” Bissoondath said. |
