A PEOPLE”S
National Movement (PNM) councillor got together with the owner of
a brothel to host a Christmas treat for children of a South Trinidad
district.
The treat was held on Boxing Day close to the brothel.
A source said that both the councillor and the brothel owner were
present at the treat.
“The children had a great time and had lots to eat,”
a mother of the area said.
“They got lovely gifts and had fun.
“But the environment was not nice for the children.”
The woman said the area is already tarnished with a bad reputation
of having prostitutes from Venezuela and Colombia.
The mother continued: “What will these young children think?
“They will probably feel it is okay to embrace prostitution.
After all, the councillor has demonstrated support for the owner
of the brothel.
“The councillor went around and personally invited children
to the party.”
TnT Mirror understands that the councillor is a close friend of
the brothel owner.
“The brothel owner finances the campaign of the councillor
for Local Government election, but do we lose our morality for politics?”
another resident questioned.
“Why do we have to let the innocent, little ones partake of
the fruits of such illegal business?
“Is it all in the name of political gains, regardless of the
consequences?”
PNM sources told Mirror that many of the councillor’s PNMite
colleagues are against the councillor’s affiliation with the
brothel owner.
“This is giving the PNM a bad name, but no one seems to care
enough to put a stop to the unholy alliance.
“I believe this situation will cost the party in the upcoming
election,” the source said. |
