While Trinis were killing each other …
Merry Christmas in Tobago
... a man even danced on his head!

THERE were several murders recorded in Trinidad over the long Christmas weekend.

However, the story was quite different over in the sister isle, as residents passed the time partying and paranging.

These JOELINE THOMAS photos are just a small sample of what Tobago Christmas was like.

In one instance, a lone man moved around with a wheelbarrow equipped with a car deck and two 12-inch speakers.

He blasted his parang music to the enjoyment of everyone assembled, even outshining the Argyle Parang Band at times. (1)

Meanwhile, these young paranderos are coached on how to beat on bottles, while making their way house to house through the Argyle Tobago Christmas morning fete. (2)

Later on, though, this small Argyle Parang Side stopped following the wheelbarrow DJ and took off after this car, which seemed to have a louder blast of music. (3)

And this Argyle Parang Band member decided to take a wine on his head, while the parang band made its way through the village. (4)

He caused everyone to stand aside and look and enjoy. After fete, it is rest time, and this couple was captured taking a nap on board The Cat, one of two inter island fast ferries operating between the Trinidad and Tobago sea bridge.

They were on their way back to Trinidad on Tuesday morning, after spending the long Christmas weekend in Tobago. (5)

As some people will say, if you weren’t in Tobago, you didn’t enjoy Christmas 2K5.
