Sutherland
added: “That is over 10 years that some part time workers
have not received any sick leave, compensation for over time and
vacation.”
“Without these benefits the workers will be stressful and
would not perform because of their knowledge of the ILC convention,”
he said.
Sutherland also said: “They have taken PTSC to the Industrial
Court on the matter and the breach in the ILO convention article
and they (PTSC) said that they would adjourned the matter because
they are having talks with the union.
“PTSC told the workers that they would have got back to them
in two weeks and that caused workers to take demonstration last
week,” Sutherland added, saying “that the PTSC were
playing games and never co-operated with the TIWU.” Sutherland
said: “In 1997 they had a memorandum agreement in which the
PTSC stated that they had financial problems an now that agreement
has expired.”
He added: “The part time worker were never part of the bargaining
of the agreement.”
He said: “The principal of the court has established that
workers should be paid and PTSC promised two weeks and still we
have not got any answers.” |
