NO
sick leave, no annual vacation and no shift allowance, PTSC, enough
is enough,” shouted Kenny Poliah, a representative of the
Transport and Industrial Workers’ Union (TIWU) at the front
of City Gate last Thursday.
Poliah told TnT Mirror: “The reason we are protesting is that
the Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) has not abided with
the ILO convention of 1975 implementation act the 81st Section which
states that the terms of a part-time driver/conductor should be
employed at normal hours of work plus benefits.”
Poliah continued: “PTSC has employed part-time driver/conductors
since 1994 and to this date they have not received employment with
any terms and conditions of employment,” which he stated,
“as very unsatisfactory.”
