A COMPLAINT has been lodged that the office
of the TnT’s High Commissioner in Canada, Arnold Piggott,
has been searched.
The unauthorised search was reportedly carried out by a senior
Foreign Service Officer (FSO).
The senior FSO was told by High Commissioner Piggott: “It
is my understanding that on the afternoon of my departure on March
7, 2006 from Ottawa to Halifax on official business, you caused
a search to be conducted in my office as you sought to retrieve
certain documents before me for my consideration.
“That was a grave intrusion of the Office of the High Commissioner.”
Piggott added: “That intrusion I consider to be a display
of poor taste, poor judgement, discourtesy, disrespect and an
overall breach of good office etiquette, a situation which I urge
you never to repeat.
“I wish to advise that your behaviour on that day is considered
to be contemptuous and demeaning and if not corrected immediately
will bring the Office of the High Commissioner and by extension
the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago into disrepute.”
