A
UNIVERSITY of the West Indies student has been involved in a homosexual
attack on his campus.
The incident almost caused a riot on the campus.
One report said the incident occurred on the Mona, Jamaica campus,
but UWI St. Augustine students told TnT Mirror that they are concerned
there could be an occurrence of such an incident in TnT.
The attacker reportedly made the advances on the student in a bathroom
on the campus.
According to a report, the advances on the student were rejected
and a fight ensued.
“The attacker ran, but as word quickly spread about what took
place, a group of students went after him,” it was stated.
The alleged homosexual was reportedly cornered by the students and
he is said to have begged security guards for help.
“The enraged mob demanded that the guards turn him over,”
said one report.
The students said they wanted him dead, and they reportedly verbally
abused the guards and also pelted them with missiles.
One student also attacked the accused with a knife.
As a result of the response of students to the incident, police
in riot gear had to be rushed to the campus.
Officers had to fire missiles into the air to force the students
to disperse.
“The bathrooms at the St. Augustine campus are in relatively
isolated places,” one local student told Mirror.
“So a homo attack can take place here because many men are
unguarded since they feel it can never happen to them.” |
