JAMAAT AL MUSLIMEEN members swear there have been no weapons
at No. 1 Mucurapo Road in 15 years, inspite of Commissioner of
Police Trevor Paul’s confirmation that a gun, grenade and
ammunition were recovered in Thursday’s raid.
In a fit of anger, several of them shouted that they were being
framed and set-up.
“Since 1990 they took away all of our weapons.
“We have nothing here,” said a senior member.
The Jamaat members also declare that there would be “war”
if the Task Force were to demolish the mosque.
“If they only touch this mosque, there would be hell to
pay, war will break out,” said a Brother Mohammed, a senior
member with tears streaming down his cheeks. (See Front Page photo).
“The police interrupted our prayer since 4 this morning,”
said brother Mohammed.
Also in tears, other members declared that they would not take
the demolition, the invasion and harassment anymore.
They insisted that something will be done.
“We not taking this one lying down,” said a member.
“The authorities overdoing it. Enough is enough,”
chimed in another.
“Bakr is the only man that stands up for ‘niggers’
in this country,” said, Brother Mohammed’s daughter.
“What about the schoolchildren?
“How they going to school?” said another member.
“But we not moving from here.
“If the police shoot us, we would go to Heaven and they
would go straight to hell.”
