who gave employees permission to enter the spanking-new three-storey
Administrative Complex located on Allies Street, Siparia, even though
there are numerous complaints from other employees that the building
is not quite ready for occupancy?
The concerned employees want Public Administration and Information
Minister Lenny Saith to intervene, since they don’t know who
gave the go ahead.
They say all they knew is that they had to report to new offices,
a welcome relief from the dilapidated buildings they once occupied.
Disgruntled staffers told TnT Mirror that it has been two months
now since they moved into the building, and their working hours
have been very uncomfortable during the period.
“First of all,” began one employee, “the most
nagging problem is the scent coming from a leaking soakaway that
has made our lives unbearable during working hours.
“Imagine for the eight hours we have to breathe in this foul
air.
“The elevators are also not working, so you can’t escape
the smell.
“You have to inhale the air as you walk up the long flight
of stairs.”
“The security guard booth is located close to the soakaway.
“They, too, have to inhale the foul air.”
Sources told Mirror that the Administrative Complex houses six government
offices, including that of the Ministries of Labour, Health and
Social Development.
“Even the car park, which is in the basement, has been closed
for the past three weeks and we are left with nowhere to park our
cars.
The worker said there is another car park on the compound, but employees
are not allowed to use it.
Reports are that because of the foul smell, some employees are allowed
to leave half day.
“But some of us can’t leave and we must work all day
under those conditions,” the spokesman added.
