THE Trinidad and Tobago Postal Corporation (TTPost) has issued
a series of stamps for Christmas 2005, which focuses on the local
trickster Anansi.
This collection focuses on the young and the important rich folklore
of the Caribbean and also brings to life one of the popular West
Indian characters.
Each stamp depicts different aspects of Anansi and the schemes
he employs to get himself to the Oval to watch the West Indies
play a cricket game.
This issue is a part of the Corporation’s Philatelic programme,
which seeks to use stamps as a tool for learning and preserving
culture and history, and also as a vehicle for the dissemination
of a wide variety of social issues.
The stamps are available at all corporate shops and franchises,
said Nataki Kerr, Communications Manager, Trinidad and Tobago
Postal Corporation.
