Reports to TnT Mirror are that should the international star go
there, it will cost promoters, the Telecommunication Services
of TnT (TSTT), close to a whopping TT$1/2 million for his three-day
stay for the telephone company’s promotional “bmobile
unbeatable concert” on December 22, at the Jean Pierre Complex,
Port of Spain.
Sources disclosed that a figure of US$80,000 has been quoted for
the proposed three-day stay for the top American artiste, who
has so far received eight nominations for Grammy Awards 2006.
The cost also includes accommodation for West’s entire entourage
of 29 persons.
Mirror learnt that efforts were afoot to reduce the size of those
accompanying West on the tour.
However, up to Press time, sources were unable to say whether
or not West’s agents had as yet signed on the dotted line.
According to Mirror’s sources, Lara’s mansion was
chosen because of its location, the ambiance it provides, and
most importantly, the top security measures already in place.
“It’s the only place with built-in security measures;
providing security on the property is not a tough exercise as
the layout is good,” Mirror was told.
“Also, the interior is nice, which is just the kind of place
for someone of Kanye’s status to stay.
“The location is also ideal, moreso because West’s
contract states that whenever he and his entourage travel, they
must be accommodated either in a five-star hotel or a villa.”
She further explained that since there are no five-star hotels
in Trinidad, those shopping around found the next best place of
choice to be Lara’s mansion.
The super star’s visit forms part of TSTT’s marketing
strategy for its promotion of the new bmobile phones, and also
in direct response to new kid on the block, Digicel, which has
been campaigning heavily for a share of market.
Scheduled to perform at the unbeatable concert are top local acts
Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin and Shurwayne Winchester, who have
all been signed by TSTT.
Tickets for the concert cost $200.
