Gail Ann’s future jam-packed with goodies
Catching up with a lyrical busy-body

BETWEEN travelling, recording internationally and numerous performances, there’s always time for home sweet home, even if that means being home for just a couple of days.

Luckily, we at Sunday PUNCH were able to catch an interview with the bright and talented Gail Ann, before she jetted off to New York once again, to attend the 4th annual Soca Awards, which was held at the Apollo Theatre on September 3, as well as a performance during the US city’s Labour Day weekend (September 1 - 3)

Not surprisingly, there’s a lot going on in the entertaining life of this attractive Soca/Rap/Hip-Hop artiste.

“ Following a hectic carnival season, Gail Ann left Trinidad in March. She has since recorded a new track entitled One For Me featuring popular Jamaican artiste Red Rat.

“The song is about a boy and a girl in a relationship, expressing their love for each other, knowing they belong together and looking forward to marriage,” explained Gail Ann.

GAIL ANN

GAIL ANN and ROCKY will be
together again for Carnival 2k7.

As for working with Red Rat, she says, “It was a lot of fun, he’s my boy. I call him my brother because we get along so well.”
Gail Ann is currently preparing to shoot a music video for another single called In My Island.

In My Island is a welcoming tune, inviting people to our country, telling them about our culture, our traditions and what we’re truly about,” she said

The gifted Gail Ann will also be performing abroad in October for the 22nd annual Miami’s Carnival at the Bicentennial Park in downtown Miami. Moreover, we’ve come to appreciate Gail Ann for her combined lyrical style. Despite being a flourishing soca siren, she’s also a Rap and Hip-Hop singer.

While in New York, she’s been working on a few Hip-Hop and Rap tracks.

“I guess you can say it’s one of the things I’m focussing on now.

“I’ve been recording with a couple new artistes, both Trini born, one’s called Ever Bless and the other Tar Born, who just finished recording a song with Kanye West,” she added.

For Gail Ann, beyond the sky’s the limit, as she’s also working on a Soul album for a record label in Europe.

However, as for Carnival 2007, Gail Ann wants everyone to know that the admired duet Gail Ann and Rocky will be back. “I have to do a song with Rocky, people keep asking me over and over again when it was going to happen, so next year, it’s happening.”
