Introducing the new public face of White Oak rum to Trinidad and Tobago, last Friday, the Angostura and Coca-Cola marketing and publicity machinery were in over-drive mode.

In a world-whirl tour of some of the country’s watering holes, neighbourhood bar patrons were in a heighten state of anticipation, for sexy twenty-four-year-old Jamaican model Julie Avalos.

The Miami-based Jamaican vixen, was chosen over several aspirants in Jamaica recently, to be White Oak’s new face.

Modelling since the age of 12, the juicy Jamaican’s composite (photo) sheet, was submitted to the Angostura ad-agency by photographer Brain Rosen.

Rosen, had seen other models, but, he had an intuitive feeling, and forwarded only the Montego Bay-born model’s composite.

Four months later, the long-haired dark-eyed beauty, is the new face of White Oak rum in Trinidad and Tobago.

In a classic hit-and-run operation, the merry White Oak tour, had 30 minutes stops in St. James, Woodbrook, Barataria, Tunapuna, Curepe and other locales. Last week it was Tobago.

In all 9 pubs were visited last Friday.

Arriving in Trinidad on September 10, 2006, the first-ever White Oak poster girl, has been busy taking in the local sights and culture.

During her two weeks stay here, the easy-on-the-eyes model wants to experience it all.

“I love it!”, the pin-up model cooed.

The first-time visitor to Trinidad and Tobago, had no idea of what was to follow, but looked forward to her visit.

At the X-Zodia pub in Tunapuna, White Oak’s new face was virtually mobbed by a packed house and heavy traffic jams existed outside.

Prior to her arrival at the neighbourhood pub, the local Coca-Cola franchise, handed out free Budweiser beer to all.

It was also, the launch of the American beer, by it’s local distributors.

Similar scenes were experienced at other tour stops.

The pin-up finds the Trinidadian people “very appreciative” and declared that: “I love White Oak rum, it’s so smooth!”

Under the searing stares of the Trinidadian male bar patron, the spotlight was on the model, who took it all in stride and while signing autographs and posing for photographs, disclosed that there are four additional posters forthcoming.

The Jamaican model hobbies are web-page design and nature photography and she has appeared in Smooth, Bridal and BET magazines.
