“Out
of every evil cometh good”, the good book says.
This saying held true last Thursday when, for the first time, top
local rapso group, 3Canal, made it to rural Chatham.
It was considered evil of the construction of the proposed aluminum
smelter plant, which has since sparked intense protest from residents
in the area that really drew Wendell Manwarring and Roger Roberts,
two of the three members of 3Canal to the southwestern peninsula.
And the duo weren’t ashamed to tell their fans that it was
indeed the first time they were visiting that part of the country.
Residents of Chatham and surrounding areas, both the young and old
got the rare opportunity to witness a live performance and to get
up close and personal with members of 3Canal.
And they didn’t disappoint under the tent where the protesters
had gathered and neither when they visited Chatham Government Primary
School.

the road.
The crowd couldn’t get enough of popular 3Canal tunes such
as Salt and Talk Yuh Talk as they clapped and even sang along.
Roberts and Manwarring had journeyed the many miles to show solidarity
with protesters who have set up camp at the entrance of the Food
Crop Road, the road leading to the site where Alcoa intends to set
up the plant.
