God Is was written during his dark days in prison.
“Those lonely days brought out what I always knew I had in
me, it made me realise my purpose and this time around I will fulfil
it.”
Last Sunday (July 23) marked the one-year anniversary date of an
incident, which sent the entertainer’s life in a different
direction.
Blazer was arrested and charged with the murder of his brother during
an altercation at their Chaguanas home.
He regrets every moment.
“But I knew all along that I would be free as I was innocent.”
He expects new song, God Is, to be an even bigger song than Somebody,
a lament he left behind in studio before his incarceration.
Along with help from fellow artistes and good friends Maximus Dan,
Bunji Garlin, Fay-Ann Lyons and manager Glenroy Watson, Somebody
was recorded and a video produced.
Blazer became the first local artiste to ever release a musical
video from behind bars.
“And I’m grateful to all of them for what they have
done for me and so too members of my family who supported me all
through this ordeal.”
He also told Sunday Punch despite what happened within the family,
wounds have been healed.
He revealed that he has since found a different environment to live,
as he gets ready to blaze a new trail in his life.
His recent appearance at the Soca for Summer concert proved that
his fans still have faith in him.
He said it was good to be back on stage after a long time.
“So even as I pen conscious lyrics I still will be doing party
songs to keep all my fans happy.
“I can’t wait for Carnival 2007 ...”
