Mom Finnita Thom:
 Kenisha is beautiful
- inside and outside

JUST a few weeks ago, it was Dwight Yorke who had fellow Tobagonians beaming with pride when he led his team Soca Warriors for the first time unto the world stage of football, World Cup 2006.

This weekend (Sunday 23), it’s Kenisha Thom, Tobago’s ebony beauty’s turn to set the universe ablaze and they will be glued to their television sets.

The experienced Miss Trinidad and Tobago 2006, having represented at Miss World Beauty Pageant a few years ago, will take the stage in the Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles with an opportunity to become Miss Universe 2006. Thom is already a favourite among the 84 delegates from around the world.

She has already been chosen as the only Black face for Cover Girl cosmetic line.

And in the audience, along with her local team of Peter Elias and his associates, will be parents Gregory and Finnita Thom, brother Keilon Thom and godmother Denise Barton.

“As a mother I feel real blessed,” the elated schoolteacher told Sunday PUNCH.

“She’s such a beautiful person ... not only on the outside, but on the inside as well.”

When Sunday PUNCH caught up with the Thoms, they were once again busy packing for the exciting trip to Los Angeles to once again see their loved one bid for an international title. She went on to say: “The village of Lowlands and by extension, Tobago is extremely proud of Kenisha’s achievements and we are all expecting victory.”

Mom Finnita, an agricultural science teacher at Bishops High School, Tobago, thinks this may very well be her daughter’s last competition.

“After all,” she asked, “is there another international competition for her?”

She said Kenisha, a tomboy turned beauty queen, wants to finish her studies in the accounting field.

The Thoms are grateful to the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) and Culture Ministry for assistance in getting them to Los Angeles.

Kenisha hopes one day to be an auditor.
