TWO of TnT’s former national beauty queens have lent their glamorous images to Trinidad and Tobago’s Cancer Society’s 2006 Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness Campaign.

Giselle La Ronde-West (Miss World 1986) and Michelle Khan (Miss World second runner-up 1995) are the faces of the innovative campaign titled “The Beauty is in the Knowing”. The 2006 campaign seeks to communicate to a woman that being sure of their personal health is “indeed a beautiful and empowering thing.”

During the awareness campaign the cancer society also seeks to stress the importance of getting tested on a regular basis.

“When detected early most cancers can be treated and the campaign will educate on this fact and encourage women to get tested on a timely and regular basis.”

Bent on ensuring that the message gets across, the high quality campaign will see the two well-known beauties also appearing on billboards, magazines and electronic media telling the public that “the beauty is in the knowing”.
