Charles, 17, has slam-dunked her name into girls’ basketball
history when she shattered all previous records.
She now has 1,039 career points following a record-breaking day
for her school, Christ the King All-American Centre.
Tina has set a school record of 49 points and surpassed the 1,000-point
plateau as the Royals breezed past Bishop Ford recently.
At the final bell, Tina, a six-foot four-inch senior forward, copped
the 2005-2006 Gatorade National Girls Basketball Player of the Year
Award, two
gold-embossed trophies, dangling contracts by top colleges across
the USA landscape, an All-Star Award from New York Daily News ...
to name just a paltry few encomiums on her illustrious trophy cabinet.
Basketball legend Michael Jordan, as a point of pride, has noted
her ascendancy into basketball history and has celebrated Tina’s
success with her family.
“My daughter Tina Charles is the No. 1 player in all of USA’s
high schools and that makes me very happy,” Charles, who owns
Charlie’s Records Store in Brooklyn, New York, glowed.
As we go to Press, Tina was selected a few days ago to play in the
Olympics, currently on in Colorado.
