Ready-to-wear
... an evening of sheer elegance

HEATHER JONES

HEATHER JONES

Ready-to-wear - 01

Go strapless ...

Ready-to-wear - 02

Exotic Caribbean flair.

Ready-to-wear - 03

Sporty elegance.

AS I was saying last week, designer Heather Jones continues her romance with fashion; just simply tweaking haute couture.

But what comes out of the engagement are outfits, every one of them, from Caribbean chic to sexy, are ready-to-wear styles. Her 2006 Collection is just not a runway extravaganza, where you look and admire outfits you’d never buy or wear.

No siree ...

This Collection affords affordable prizes for women of style and elegance.

Heather, incurable romantic that she is, said about her stunning Collection: “I draw from no special inspiration in creating these outfits.

“It’s the same Caribbean story I started years ago.

“It’s still evolving, but more so into an international context.

“I try to capture the rhythm of the Caribbean, the music, the wind, the passion, the movement. A romantic story really, that’s more luxurious in its fashion,” she glowed.

Admit it, you hear the name Heather Jones and immediately you think about her enviable style, her signature imprint in the national fabric of fashion culture.

“I want to bring local fashion to the attention of the international community,” she told me a few months ago; and I can sense that, global ambition is sitting snugly on her well-tailored shoulders.

You could never pin down what Heather would flash out with in her perennial statements, there’s always that element of surprise somewhere in the details.

Her 2006 Collection shows evidence of that, Heather keeping our eyes blinking with her flattering, elegant line and her lightness of touch.

The latter you would notice in the way she handled proportions, sleek, tapered lines, pin-sharp silhouettes all looking lovingly demure.

But that’s Heather ... a class act.
