MAJOR & minor Productions Ltd. is pleased to announce the release of its 2006 Calypso Compilation featuring songs composed with the pan in mind.

This year’s production is dedicated to the memory of Clive Bradley and aptly titled A Musical Treat – A Tribute to Clive Bradley.

The title tract A Musical Treat was possibly the last tune arranged by Clive Bradley for composer Steve “Diamond” Nanton, a tenor pannist from the band, Desperadoes.

Fittingly, the band is expected to perform this tune as their Panorama selection.

Eunice Peters, who has established herself as one of the leading pan song vocalists, offers High on the Pan composed by Edwin Pouchet and Alvin Daniell.

A first for Edwin Pouchet, he felt compelled to offer some “new music” for pan arrangers to consider for Panorama 2006.

His band Silver Stars will journey to the Big Yard with his arrangement of his own composition.

Kalomo Kings from the South will also go with it.

Ray Holman, who is an accomplished tune spinner has two selections on the CD.

They are If We Really Want and Keep It Nice.

The first is a patriotic number with an infectious melody.

The lyrics were written by prolific songwriter, Winsford “Joker” Devine.

The other tune is more uptempo and in the Carnival vein with lyrics by deceased calypsonian, Merchant.

Both songs were performed by Derek Seales, former lead singer with Roy Cape All Stars.

Starlift Steel Orchestra has chosen If We Really Want which significantly will be arranged by Ray, himself.

Colours Again sung by Destra has proven to be one of the popular choices of the bands for Panorama 2006.

It is a party styled soca composition composed by Mark Loquan with lyrics fitted by Keron Boodoosingh and Joel “Zan” Feveck jointly. Skiffle Bunch, Laventille Sound Specialists and Merrytones have indicated their intention to interpret it for Panorama.

Mark Loquan also composed Good Times for Denyse Plummer.

Chris Morris penned the lyrics.

Good Times has also attracted a number of bands including Our Boys from Tobago and a rejuvenated Casablanca.

While The Original Defosto Himself has produced four songs that could be chosen for Panorama, this CD features Judgement Day, a lively musical number with scathing lyrics. Renegades Steel Orchestra has settled for this one and word is that they are sounding good with it.

The combination of Brian “Bean” Griffith with melody, Alvin Daniell for lyrics and Steve Sealy on vocals will be remembered for tunes like Trini Know How and On De Drag.

The team is back this year with Enough Is Enough inspired by the shooting in Simple Song’s panyard last year.

The song has galvanised the members of that steelband into action and they plan to use the song to make a statement for 2006.

The song will also be performed by Belmont Fifth Dimension with “Bean” at the arranging helm.

Jason “Peanut” Isaac has begun to establish himself on the local scene and this year he has employed the services of experienced Tunapuna Scanty to vocalise his Hard Wine.

Birdsong with arranger Rudy “Tulef” Smith gave the nod to this tune and expect to forge their way into the finals with this interesting selection.

The CD comprises a total of 14 tunes with other songs Sweet Hand by Kenny J and Outta Control sung by De Panman from Antigua.

The latter was composed by Len “Boogsie” Sharpe and Alvin Daniell and was played by the winning Panorama Band, Gemonites, in Antigua last July.

Also on the CD is Women in Pan by Crazy and Panman Story by I–Shaba. Rounding off the compilation is a soca groove by the late Wayne Rodriguez, Caribbean Woman, performed just before his demise but only now formally released.

The CD is available at all leading stores and is truly a musical treat with arrangements by Junior “Ibo” Joseph, Leston Paul, Pelham Goddard, Carl “Beaver” Henderson and Clive Bradley.

This CD is a fitting tribute to Bradley who has always promoted quality music, creative arrangements and captivating performances. Panorama 2006 promises to be an interesting array of the same in his honour.
