Upcoming artiste with ring in pocket makes ...
Marriage proposal
- at Soca show

By JOELINE THOMAS
UPCOMING soca artiste Curtis “Cutty” Edwards proposed to his wife-to-be at the Annual Groovy Soca Monarch Semi-Finals at Soca Broadway, Port of Spain.

The La Horquetta resident performed his single, Let’s Just in second position at the Groovy Soca Monarch Competition.

A few minuets before his performance was over the young man called his lady out on the stage.

Audience members began looking around to see who the lucky woman could have been.

When she got up on the stage, Cutty got down on one knee, pulled out a ring from his pocket and popped the question.

The woman stood in shock for a short time before she replied “yes” to his stunning, abrupt proposal.

It was not too long afterwards that the excited Broadway crowd began screaming and jumping around in shock and disbelief and pure joy.

The crowd applauded the newly engaged couple as they made their way off the stage.

Cutty said the reason he decided that the semi-finals was the most appropriate time to pop the question, was because his now-fiancé had been at his side ever since he began singing five years ago.

He revealed: “She has always supported me throughout my endeavours in the music industry no matter what.

“At times when I felt like giving up she was always there encouraging me to keep trying.

“That was why I made a promise to myself that the first time I ever made it to the semi-finals in any competition during my career I would propose to her.”

Cutty kept his promise to himself shocking his fiancé and further entertaining the Soca Broadway crowd.

The 24-year-old songster said that he has been involved in music for the past five years, but only began entering competitions last year.

He also related that his song has received some airplay on the radio stations and he has been receiving some positive feedback from it.

“It doesn’t matter whether I get into the finals or not what is really important to me is the fact that I made it this far,” he contended.
