‘Buckle Up’
- with sexy Soca diva, Gail Ann

By CECILY ASSON
“BUCKLE UP” as soca diva Gail Ann Stephen gets back into the driver’s seat for C2K6 and beyond!

Yeah, the foundation Asylum member who took flight from the band earlier this year for a solo career has jumped into the Road March business with her latest release Road Calling, produced by Julio of KMG Studio, Arima.

Known best for her 1998 collaboration with Rocky, Look Meh In Me Eye When Yuh Wining, Brain Therapy and Watching Me, another collaboration this time with Benjai, the sexy singer told Sunday PUNCH she just wanted her fans to see yet another side of her.

“I’m feeling really good about my work so far,” she said.

Gail Ann has already released four songs for C2K6.

Already on rotation is Look Excuse produced by Michelle Williams out of Catalyst Studio in Brooklyn.

Other releases include Hit and Run (Dainja Mentalz Studio) and Buckle Up a collaboration with Benjai and Salt, half of the R&B duo Salt N’ Peppa.

Describing her move to go solo as “one to regain my identity” Gail Ann revealed it has so far worked well.

The new experience has seen her working with a whole new set of artistes from different genres of music.

“I did a collaboration Baby, with Saik, a 17-year-old boy wonder from Guadeloupe and that tune is doing well.

“I also collaborated with St. Lucia Soca Monarch/Road March champ Alpha on Carnival Nu La.

“That song is big in St. Lucia right now, and I’ll be there with him to defend his title for Carnival this year.”

Gail Ann is also booked for the St. Lucia Jazz Festival later this year.

The Diego Martin beauty who spends most of her time in New York performing, said she spent four years with the band Asylum and grew musically with them.

“I must say I miss the band, but there comes a time where one must move on.

“Asylum prepared me for bigger things,” she concluded.
