The Original Juvenist:
Treat upcoming entertainers with respect

By BIBI KHAN

HE used to be an usher at Club Zen but now 22-year-old Dennis Gilbert plans to work full time on his music career.

Known as The Original Juvenist to many, he explained that the name meant being a young professional.

Gilbert was part of the Busta bmobile School Tour and released a music video on Ash Wednesday for one of his two new tracks, Tell Them and Stop Live Like Fools.

“Since I was eight years old, I have been interested in singing.

“I hope to become one of the biggest entertainers in a few years.

“I want to take music to different parts of the world and I think in order for that to happen all artistes have to come together.”

He called for Trinbagonians to stop making Carnival a seasonal event and that the population should “give more ear” to young artistes.

He added that he noticed many young people were influenced by wrong things, but those who wanted to change things for themselves had no avenue available to them.

This is the reason there should be a calypso, chutney or soca tent for young people only, so that they could receive more exposure as well as financial rewards.

“Promoters like Randy Glasgow need to get things in place for us.

“We need to be treated with respect.

“Machel Montano and those other singers already have enough exposure.”

Confidently, Juvenist said that Trinidad and Tobago would hear more about him and thanked Hilter Productions, Allan Brizan, Ian Pantin and Antonio Ross for their help and support.

He advised the youths to put down the guns and to stop being influenced by people who will tarnish their character.

“Life may seem hard but with God’s better must come.”
