Trini Jacobs
- sexy frontliner in Naya’s Invazion band

By Cecily Asson
VOCALIST Trini Jacobs promises to be “Trini Jacobs” and nobody else when she officially takes her place for the first time alongside Naya George as lead singer of the band Invazion for C2K6!

It will be her debut performance with the Point Fortin band which has two Road March titles under its belt.

The Cancer born entertainer who collaborated with Vincentian soca star Kevin Lyttle on Sexy Ways replaces sexy soca diva Fay Ann Lyons who abruptly left the band at the height of the 2005 Carnival season.

‘I just wanted to be singing to 30,000 people. And I could only get that in Trinidad’

After living 16 years abroad, Trini, daughter of veteran entertainers Carl and Carol Jacobs returned home “without a plan” as she puts it.

She explained she just needed to get back to the roots of soca.

She packed her bags and left behind her doting parents, an older sister, Carla, younger brother, Cyle, and a whole lot of other opportunities.

“I just knew I wanted to be singing to 30,000 people,” laughed the young woman who was born and bred in music.

“And I could only get that in Trinidad.”

For years, Trini performed with “Islanders”, the Miami-based family band.

The Jacobs migrated several years ago.

She grabbed the opportunity to audition for the spot in Invazion when she heard they were looking for someone.

The rest is history.

Now she’s about to release her CD titled, Unify, which was arranged by Junior “Ibo” Joseph.

It’s just one of seven tracks with which Trini hopes her name will become a household one.

“I want people to see me as an individual, as Trini Jacobs and no one else,” she went on.

“Carnival 2006 will definitely be my big year.

“I’m looking forward to the Invazion experience.

“I can’t wait to get on that stage.”
