FOR
the past 16 years, I have been saying the same thing and I have
been branded and called all sorts of names by the public and the
media.
Many editorials have been written, criticising me.
Today, it is being said before the Commission of Enquiry and as
usual, being reported by the media.
And I am assured that the media will not do their investiga-tive
reporting.
The sister of the Prime Minister says the same thing that I have
said on numerous occasions and it is now printed as gospel.

Dr.
COLIN
FURLONGE

To date, no one has gone the distance that I have.
Unlike my statements, some have been personal attacks on others
and unlike my statements, none have provided any solution.
What did Dr. Manning-Alleyne mean by the favouring of Asian doctors
over Nigerian doctors?
Was this an overt racial attack?
If she only wants to work with Nigerian doctors, state such to
her superiors and Human Resources.
I do support her on the publicity stunts called private waiting
list initiative, public relations campaign about number of surgeries
done, financial support of private nursing homes while there is
no money for the development of infrastructure within the public
health institutions and the “illegal” government registration
of unscrutinised doctors via Cuba and the United Nations “volunteers”.
As one of the highest paid doctors within the public health service,
she clearly stated that doctors and nurses are underpaid.
This was one of the first items noted by the investigators of
the Health Sector Reform Plan.
I can sit back and enjoy the comedy that is taking place at the
Commission of Enquiry today.
Something similar took place with the Commission of Enquiry of
the St. Ann’s Hospital egg- nog situation.
That report made no improvement to St. Ann’s Hospital.
I am yet to hear someone say that Dr. Ayoung-Chee was right.
And Dr. Furlonge. And Dr. Fortune. And Dr. Roop. And Dr. K.Ali.
And Dr. N. Persad. And Dr. R. Persad. And Dr. Ramjit. And Medical
Professionals of Trinidad and Tobago (MPATT). And countless others.
And I await the solution and suggestions and the report destined
for the shelf.
