HIGH drama unfolded last Thursday on the corner of Queen and Abercromby
Streets in Port of Spain, as a heavily-armed Inter-Agency Task Force
(IATF) unit descended on a group of unsuspecting young men.
|
The story was that the men’s car matched the description
of a getaway vehicle that had been used in a robbery just moments
before.
But after an extensive search, the IATF -- assisted by a back-up
team -- let the men go.
One of the passengers, Belmont resident Norris Raghay accused
the police of using brute force and discrimination, since their
car had shut down at that spot for more than 15 minutes.
Nevertheless, a large crowd of onlookers gathered, among them
D’ Guardian’s Senior Associate Editor Arthur Dash,
who calmly took in the action, while chomping on his pack of “salt”
nuts.
Photographer GARVIN LOPEZ captured the (in)action.
