SANGRE GRANDE police
have cracked a ring involving in a spate of breakings into business
places, offices and homes in the area over the past few months
with the arrest of 10 men and the seizure of more than $25,000
worth of various types of business and household equipment and
electronics.
The breakthrough came on Monday during investigations into a report
that a security guard employed at the Forestry Department on Toco
Road, Sangre Grande, was held up on Sunday night, while thieves
entered the building and took away wackers, and other garden tools.
The burglars then left in a vehicle owned by the Forestry Department
with the stolen items.
Following investigations by acting Sgt. Beverly Paul, Cpl. Christopher
Fuentes, and constables Khan and Castillo, four men from Sangre
Grande were held for questioning.
Police later searched several homes in Sangre Grande, Cumuto,
Central Trinidad and along the East-West Corridor and seized computers,
electronics, musical equipment, other household and office items
which were reportedly stolen.
Six other men were arrested during the raids.
Investigations are continuing.
