champ, Giselle Salandy is very confident of a win as she prepares
to take on world ranking Elizabeth Mooney.
Originally Lisa Holewyne of the United States of America (USA) was
carded for the Friday night in the Women’s World Boxing welterweight
title bout. It was revealed that Holewyne could not make it, hence
the replacement.
The fight comes off at Skinner Park, San Fernando this Friday from
8 p.m. Salandy, 19, of Fyzabad, has been training for the fight
for the past three months.

The Fyzabad teen is
a world champion with 12 wins and no loses.
Salandy’s promoter, Boxu Potts said she will create history.
Potts said Salandy was training 300 rounds.
“She runs the hills of Blanchisseuse and does aerobic and
water training,” Potts said.
Her opponent, Mooney is ranked third. Salandy, in a brief interview
with TnT Mirror, admitted that she was excited for the fight.
The young boxer further revealed that she intends to use her influence
to inspire the youths. Salandy said: “I want to give them
hope.
“I intend to go out in various troubled areas in the country
and talk to the young people.
“I want to hear from the under-privileged, the battered
women; I want to hear the plight of all.”
