CHAGUANAS Mayor Dr.
Surujrattan Rambachan has denied allegations that he put a good
cussing on his deputy, Orlando Nagessar.
Rambachan, instead, claimed that he and Nagessar were having a
discussion about a project.
The fiery showdown reportedly took place a Saith Park, Chaguanas
last Wednesday when the Soca Warriors visited several areas in
South and Central Trinidad.
Sources, however, told TnT Mirror that the cussout took place
after the Soca Warriors left the park.
Mirror was reliably informed that an argument ensued between the
two senior politicians over a portion of land located in the park.
Couva North MP, Basdeo Panday, while in government, had allowed
the nearby Montrose Vedic School to use the portion of land as
a playground for students until the school was relocated.
Saith Park was built during the tenure of Nagessar and Panday
turned the sod for the beginning of construction.
Reports revealed the episode began when Rambachan accused Nagessar
of undermining his project for the lawn tennis court on the land.
“The normally quiet Orlando explained to the mayor that
Panday had given the school permission to use the land as a playground.
“Rambachan in an angry tone allegedly said that Panday and
Orlando can’t stop him from doing anything.
“The mayor used expletives questioning who Panday and Nagessar
were.
“Orlando apparently lost his cool as well and did return
some harsh words to the mayor,” a source said.
Persons who witnessed the cussout, are of the view that the behaviour
was unbecoming of senior politicians.
Both men are strongly involved in religious activities.
Rambachan said the allegations against him were not true but was
mischief. Attempts to contact Nagessar were futile.
