An unforgettable night it will be, the Bollywood Awards 2006 which took place at the Centre of Excellence in Macoya recently, where the full capacity crowd soaked up every item, from song to dance performances.

Doubting Thomases were silenced and awed by the presence of the massive following which stars from Bollywood’s past and present era, who were booked for the show, caused to turn out.

And India’s Black Spider Dance Group left knowing that they did indeed have hundreds of new fans and gave some new dance moves to the local troupes.

As the night’s proceedings unfolded, the highly-anticipated awards brought a throng of fans surging forward to the stage area all seeking photos of those on stage, so much so that security forces came in to repress the eagerness.

Singer Kunal Ganjawala knew for sure that he was impressive when some ladies stepped out into the isles and front stage to dance to his spicy presentations.

Two of the movie industry’s best, Rajesh Khanna and Zeenat Aman, seemed well-informed about the country and therefore complimented the top sportsmen Brian Lara and Dwight Yorke in their respective fields, offering them the best results in the contest against India and World Cup opponents.

Zeenat’s accolade went, “Miss Asia Pacific1970, a journalist for the magazine, Femia, arguably the sexiest actress in India cinema.

“Zeenat Aman has played many roles and with unparalleled élan”.

“... at a time when heroines were virtuous virgins, Zeenat was a stark contrast ... the femme fatale, the hippie, and the sultry siren. Never before had Hindi cinema seen a heroine so comfortable with her sexuality.
