Holiday makers shun Mayaro, Manzanilla ... over long Labour Day weekend
The Manzanilla and Mayaro Beaches were deserted
over the long Labour Day weekend as most holiday makers preferred
to stay at home for Father’s Day (Sunday) or journey down
to Fyzabad on Monday for the Labour Day celebrations.
The inclement weather may have also forced many beach lovers to
stay indoors.
TnT Mirror reporter/photographer Azad Ali took a trip to Mayaro
for the weekend and saw very few people at Manzanilla Beach ...
and it was a similar situation at Mayaro.
Fishermen at Mayaro came up with poor catches over the three days,
forcing them to push up the prices of the various species.
They blamed weather conditions and rough seas for their small
catches.

Owners
of hotel and guest houses, who were expecting to cash in on the
holiday weekend, were disappointed.
However, they are expecting better business for the upcoming summer
vacation next month.
