Murder/suicide couple shares pyre

THE funeral service for murder/suicide victims, wife Radhee and husband Stephen Salazar is scheduled to take place at their Dyette Street, Cunupia home today (Friday).

Their bodies would then be cremated at the Waterloo Cremation Site in Carapichaima.

Salazar’s sister, Dianne, told TnT Mirror said the couple had a great life together and should not be separated in death.

“I am hurting; I don’t like what happened but I want to be strong for the two children,” Dianne cried.

Police reports say Stephen Salazar, 42, strangled his wife of 19 years, Radhee around 4 p.m. last Friday and then ingested the deadly gramoxone weedicide.

Salazar had earlier given his eldest son, Brandon $200 and second son, Fabien $40 to go and enjoy themselves.

Salazar was a machine operator at Nestle Trinidad and Tobago Limited while Radhee was a custom officer.

Relatives said the couple had taken the day off from their respective jobs.

One of the couple’s sons stumbled on his parents’ corpses later in the day when he squeezed through a bedroom window to get into the locked house.

An autopsy performed last Tuesday revealed that Radhee died of strangulation and Salazar of poisoning.

Boodoo said she could not believe what happened and was still in shock.

“My brother would never do something like this.

“He and his wife lived good; they were like my parents,” Boodoo said.

Boodoo of Sangre Grande told Mirror that she was about to call Salazar to tell him she would be visiting for Father’s Day when she received a call from her sister.

She said her sister informed her of what had happened.

Boodoo related, “I was shocked; I never expected anything like this.

“I immediately dialled Salazar’s number but someone on the other end told me I was not his sister.

“I was planning to give my brother a CD for Father’s Day.

“Now I have to console my nephews.”

Radhee’s mother said she did not know of her daughter’s problems.

“I am a heart case and they don’t tell me everything.

“But I know that Salazar called my daughter while she was at her sister’s home and told her to come and make up.

“I don’t know what the make up was about,” Radhee’s mother said
