THE father of Shuffrool Hosein, who disappeared
while returning from Tobago on the MV Sonia last Friday night,
would like to know what is being done by the authorities to ascertain
what happened with his son.
Imam Hosein, of Dindial Settlement, Piparo said he is worried
and hurt but cannot do anything.
“I would like someone to look for my son.
“I want to know what is happening,” Hosein told TnT
Mirror.
Shuffrool left Tobago last Friday to reach Trinidad early to attend
a 40-days service for his mother, Isha Hosein.
His colleague, Quin Williams of Mayo also boarded the boat.
Shuffrool, 45, never showed up at home.

Williams told police
investigators he did not see Shuffrool after they boarded the
boat since they went in separate directions.
Shuffrool and his brother, Faizool work at a construction site
in Bon Accord, Tobago with a contractor from the Piparo area.
Imam Hosein said he only knew of Shuffrool’s predicament
when Faizool returned from Tobago on June 10 and inquired about
him.
“He was surprised when he did not see his brother at home.
“He told me Shuffrool left Tobago on Friday night at 11
p.m.,” Hosein told Mirror.
He said the prayers for Isha went on without Shuffrool, who really
wanted to attend.
Relatives said Shuffrool, who was close to his mother, was shaken
up after her death.
Isha died of a massive heart attack and kidney failure.
Shuffrool normally cooked for all the family’s prayer gathering.
A worried Imam Hosein said it was hard for him since he lost his
wife 42 days ago.
The elderly man said he sits at home worrying all the time.
Public Relations Officer at the Port Authority of Trinidad and
To-bago, Betty-Ann Gibbons said the Port officials are looking
into the matter.
Shuffrool is the second person to go missing from a boat in the
inter-island ferry service.
The previous miss-ing man of Laventille, who was reportedly thrown
overboard, was never found.
