Despite outrageous appeals and negativism,
Benny Hinn has come.
Now gone, he has left the largest gathering of hopefuls, some
destined to their own immortality, others desirous of attaining
prosperity, good health and, of course, longevity.
To hope, to live the long, good life is everyone’s wish.
At Hinn’s crusade, the largest public assemblage (100,000),
some pietistic and devout in their claim for redemption, gathered
under a hot sky.
Hinn has visited other countries, including Nigeria, Taiwan, Hong
Kong and Indonesia, where he is accused of greed, excessive luxury,
proselytisation and being pretentious.
Also, he has been branded as a fake!

Former President ARTHUR
ROBINSON “ketching the
spirit” at the Benny Hinn
Crusade.

He is accused of repeatedly
collecting millions from the poor with poorer minds, a flaunting,
ostentatious, roving pastor, a glib charlatan.
A self-proclaimed prophet, this suave, exquisitely groomed, honey-tongued
man has not only carted away immense profits but has revealed
the sorry state of some people here, even those in high office.
How do you explain then, a leader who has acquired respect, honour
and grandeur standing, shaking hands aloft, pleading, rooted in
the front row of a naïve, marble-headed crowd?
Trinidad is a land of bacchanal and bad news.
Crime in the form of child abuse, murder, robbery, rape and plunder,
arson and destruction make sensational front page news each day.
But the picture of a one-time leader of the nation caught up with
a false prophet is the sorriest image to remain in memory for
a long time.
After the aftermath then, millions of cash would have left our
shores.
All the hopefuls who had craved for the long, happy life of health
and prosperity would have been carted, escorted home still trembling
from their ailments, unblessed, forgotten and not only foolishly
bankrupt, but now further enfeebled through their own failed expectations.
To make peace, to live in the name of faith, hope and charity,
with all respect to man and God, the best “anecdote”
is, and always has been the simple Lord’s Prayer, which
may now be considered lost.
And not wanting to preach like Benny Hinn, say it each day with
meaningful purpose -- it is the code of life.
