WHILE Sergeant Errol Ramdath
and Corporal Nester Sooklal of the Princes Town Police Station were
hauled before the court on car stealing charges, colleagues of the
men are asking about the robbery matter involving another police
officer, who is attached to the station.
Sources told TnT Mirror that there are serious allegations against
the junior officer.
Mirror understands that the police officer was alleged to have robbed
an illegal Whe Whe banker of the Princes Town district.
Files on the matter were reportedly submitted since last April to
the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
“The first file disappeared and a duplicate file was submitted.
“To date no one knows what became of the files.
“Correspondence was not received from the DPP regarding the
instruction to dismiss or prosecute in the matter.
“This, although the policeman went to commit his offence in
a marked police vehicle.
“The policeman, however, continues to work.
“We don’t know if the officer is continuing his corrupt
work or whether he has learnt a lesson,” a police source said.
One disturbed police officer said the policeman would be allowed
to get off since he is close to the “big boys” in the
service.
“When yuh close with the ‘big boys’ you can get
away with anything,” a policeman said. |
