Kitty’s ex-wife opens new church

THE former wife of embattled Pastor Vishnu “Kitty” Lutchmansingh has not let the recent financial scandal involving her ex-husband force her out of the church.

Pastor Kitty has since appeared in the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court and placed on $4.7m bail for fraud.

Tara Lutchmansingh has now opened her own church.

Just a few months ago, the beleaguered Pastor Kitty and Tara, amidst mounting allegations of fraud, became embroiled in a bitter divorce battle.

Sources revealed to TnT Mirror that she threw open the doors of the brand-new church below her Las Lomas residence which she now occupies.

The small congregation is said to comprise a handful of former members who had been expelled from her husband’s Cunupia-based church.

Last Monday Pastor Kitty, whose new wife is pregnant, appeared before a San Fernando Magistrates’ Court to answer 38

fraud charges.

Pastor Kitty, whose claim to fame was that he had inherited billions of dollars from his American benefactor Buford Keaton, was introduced some years ago to the TnT public amidst much fanfare.

He became known as the richest pastor in TnT, he wrote books about his life from rags to riches.

Those who worshipped under his big red tent at Marabella and later under a white tent in Cunupia, were treated to the finest.

Persons of all walks of life including wealthy businessmen and professionals, lined up behind him and reportedly loaned him millions of dollars hoping to be repaid soon, with a hefty interest that was bandied to be 10 times the amount loaned.

Three years passed and those who invested heavily are still waiting to be paid.

They are still to see signs of the billion-dollar inheritance.

Those who were owed grew impatient and subsequently reported Pastor Kitty to the Fraud Squad.

Investigations into allegations that several persons were defrauded monies totalling over $4m between 2001 and 2004, began back in 2003.

Last year Pastor Kitty was questioned and taken into custody but subsequently released.

One of his former followers, Nutrimix president Shaheed Mohammed, eventually sued the pastor for outstanding monies.

He was granted an injunction by the High Court, which prevented the pastor and his wife from disposing of their assets.

Late last year a frustrated Mohammed moved in to levy on the pastor as he tried to recover his monies, and so seized several vehicles.

Last Wednesday mid-morning, a mere 48 hours after being bailed from jail by one of his faithful, Dr. Ashram Bissooondath, Pastor Kitty was again in the news as trucks belonging to Mohammed moved in and seized what was left of the church’s property as he tried to recover $5m owed to him.

Every last fitting from the church was removed, and the big tent standing in Cunupia over the last couple years was dismantled and taken away.

Unlike the last time when an attempt to levy was blocked by angry disciples, Pastor Lutchmansingh and his worshippers steered clear of the area this time around.
