Last year Pastor Kitty was questioned and taken into custody but
subsequently released.
One of his former followers, Nutrimix president Shaheed Mohammed,
eventually sued the pastor for outstanding monies.
He was granted an injunction by the High Court, which prevented
the pastor and his wife from disposing of their assets.
Late last year a frustrated Mohammed moved in to levy on the pastor
as he tried to recover his monies, and so seized several vehicles.
Last Wednesday mid-morning, a mere 48 hours after being bailed from
jail by one of his faithful, Dr. Ashram Bissooondath, Pastor Kitty
was again in the news as trucks belonging to Mohammed moved in and
seized what was left of the church’s property as he tried
to recover $5m owed to him.
Every last fitting from the church was removed, and the big tent
standing in Cunupia over the last couple years was dismantled and
taken away.
Unlike the last time when an attempt to levy was blocked by angry
disciples, Pastor Lutchmansingh and his worshippers steered clear
of the area this time around. |
