Standing calmly, Starchild looked on as the arresting officer attached
to the Organised Crime and Narcotic Unit (OCNU) went through the
black and gold suitcase that contained two blue jeans and two sweaters
that Starchild allegedly had when we was arrested on Saturday February
11, when he was about to board BW flight 526 to New York.
The magistrate was shown that one blue jeans had two plastic packets
of cocaine powder.
The other jeans had one “lotus” icing sugar packet,
and two “Chief” baking powder packets, filled with cocaine
powder.
One sweater had three packets of Chief ground urdi with cocaine
powder, while the other sweater had one pack of Chief ground channa
with cocaine.
The drugs were allegedly found in an inner lining of the clothes.
He was denied bail and advised to get an attorney when he appears
again on February 16.
Starchild has been a DJ for many years after starting at the age
of 16 years.
He was given the name Starchild by the then popular Rennie B, whom
Ayers had emulated and adopted his DJ skills from.
Ayers later advanced his music career to become a radio DJ.
He worked at Radio Tamarind in Tobago and his last place of employment
before his arrest was 104.7FM where he was the head DJ and talk
show host.
