Papal stamp of approval

ON Monday April 10, 2006, the Trinidad and Tobago Postal Corporation (TTPost) issued a series of stamps to commemorate the pastoral visit of Pope John Paul II to our land in 1985.

It was a momentous occasion for the country to have the papal head here, to celebrate mass and participate in our cultural festivities.

TTPost is offering five stamps, a Souvenir Sheet and a First Day Cover for sale to the public to commemorate the visit.

The stamps are now in circulation.

This special stamp issue is a collector’s item and a memento for those touched by the humility and kind-hearted nature of the late Pontiff.

Furthermore, the issue is part of TTPost’s effort to celebrate and highlight the various aspects of the culture of TnT.

“We are pleased to collaborate with the photographer, Noel Norton and are proud to present to TnT and the rest of the world our ‘Pope John Paul II 1920 - 2005’ Stamp Issue, now available at TTPost outlets nationwide,” said TTPost Communications Manager Nataki Kerr.
