Waterloo school still in shock

By ANNA POLIAH

STUDENTS of Waterloo Hindu School cannot function properly since Sean Luke’s gruesome murder.

Nine-year-old Stephanie Cater said it was very difficult to function in school.

“Sean’s murder was very sad.

“We are trying to do our work in school, but are unable to do so.

“We cannot settle down since Sean was killed,” Cater told TnT Mirror.

Cater was part of a march organised by the Waterloo Hindu School, last Sunday, against the country’s crime and lawlessness.

The “Cherish the Children” march began in front of the school and ended close to Luke’s Orange Valley, Couva home.

Hundreds participated in the march wearing white and jerseys with Luke’s picture.

While Cater was not in Luke class, she knew him well.

“The circumstances surrounding Sean’s murder cannot come out of our minds.

“I am scared and want to be with my mommy all the time.

“I wake in the night and think about this incident and cannot sleep,” said Cater, as she further expressed feelings over Luke’s death.

Cater called for an end to crime.

Another student, Nicole Syne said she feels “worried”.

Many of the infant students of Luke’s former class told Mirror that they missed him dearly.

They are still crying for him.

Meera said Luke was her best friend.

Other students of Luke’s class said he made a lot of jokes and made them laugh.

Parents, however, said they did not explain the details of Luke’s death to the children.

Luke’s teacher Vera Salick was said to be very disturbed over his murder. Persons close to Salick said she has not been in good spirit since the incident.

Mirror understands that Salick cries whenever the matter is discussed.

Reports indicate that she has become very weak.

Luke, six, was buggered and murdered by teenaged “friends” who he played with.

He went missing on March 26, and his corpse was found in a canefield close to his home days later.

Two teenagers were charged with Luke’s murder.
