POLICE should look for bomb
number six in areas of Western Queen Street this weekend.
This is the view of a security source with experience in the military.
The source said investigators should study the patterns of the bombing
to catch the bomber and prevent further damage.
“Areas of the National Library and the two bars on Lower Richmond
Street could be the likely targets.
“Or, the bomber might deviate to Park and St. Vincent Streets
popularly known as the Green Corner.
“Police should concentrate in these areas and have the sniffer
dogs out before and not after the bomb explodes,” the security
official said.
The security official said a careful study of the pattern of the
bombings should have led to the arrest of the bomber at the last
bombing at Spektakular Forum last October 27.
Deputy Police Commissioner Glen Roach, however, said that he believes
the person who planted the bomb at the Spektakula was just playing
the fool.
Roach said he did not believe it was the act of the person who planted
the previous four bombs.
But the security official said he had already looked at the areas
close to the Spektakula as the possible target.
“The bomber is targeting popular areas,” the security
official told TnT Mirror.
The security also made a call for all steel garbage bins to be replaced
with rubber ones.
“More damage will result from a low density bomb in a steel
bin compared to the results of an explosion in a rubber bin.
“The steel will obviously fragment and cause greater damage
in an explosion,” the official said.
The source said the bomber appears to be a disgruntled or frustrated
individual who is trying to show his worth.
“It seems as though the bomber does not want to cause much
fatalities.
“But the bomber is gaining confidence.”
The official said the next bombing could be bigger.
“The bomber got away with the Spektakula Forum bombing even
as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director, Robert Mueller
visited Trinidad on the matter.
“That is obviously a plus for him,” the security official
told Mirror.
The first bomb was placed in a bin at the Corner Queen and Frederick
Streets last July 11.
Yvonne Mc Ivor lost her leg in the blast.
Others were also injured.
On August 10, there was another bomb blast on George Street but
no one was injured.
Again, on September 10, an employee of KFC was slightly injured
by an explosion at the Independence Square outlet.
On October 14, another bomb exploded in the vicinity of the popular
Smokey and Bunty bar in St. James.
Ten persons were injured in that blast. |
