STUDENT and teacher having sex in the back of an office.

This is what one parent is claiming happened to her 16-year-old daughter after she enrolled her to take extra lessons at a school in San Fernando.

The distraught mother of the student recounted the details on how she found out about the tryst.

“When my innocent daughter began to withdraw from her daily activities I began to investigate into her social life and that is when I found out about all of this.

“My husband and I are respectable people.

“I don’t know how this could have happened.”

According to the mother, her daughter was a science student having written the CXC examination recently.

The parent said she is certain that something of that nature happened as both the teachers at the extra lessons programme are handsome men in their 30s, and several phone calls from her telephone landline was made to one of them.

Her call log obtained from TSTT also showed several calls from the teacher, and she said the last call coincides with the time around which her daughter became withdrawn.

The parent said when she confronted her daughter she got the impression that the love affair was with a student from another school, but got the shock of her life when she found out what was really going on.

“I started asking around and heard is not the first time something like this has happened.

“One of the male teachers is from Couva and has a reputation for things like this.

“But the other one though took me by surprise, as I know for a fact that he is a good teacher.

“They both teach at prestige schools in Trinidad, one in Couva and another in Naparima and give lessons at this particular school.”

By continuing to enquire into the sexual encounter she learnt that many naïve schoolgirls are taken to a back office in the compound of the school where sexual intercourse, among many other acts are done.

“This is quite disgusting because they are using these girls.

“The teachers are telling these girls that they are in love with them and then drop them like a hot potato.

“They stop taking their calls too,” explained the upset mother.

One of the teacher’s mother is said to be the supervisor of the extra lessons classes.

In a distressed tone the parent complained that the authorities must be made to know what is going on in schools like this one.

She said: “There are hundreds of people’s children that this is being done to and nothing is being done about it.

“This is my daughter’s first experience in life.

“She is studying for exams and by God I cannot understand why she would be persuaded to do such a thing!

“When I was 16, I would not even think of going with someone twice my age.”

The parent said she tried to procure evidence to build a case against the two male teachers with some other parents, who have daughters where the same sexual incident occurred.

But she said they are afraid to speak out for fear of damaging the reputation of their children.

When asked why she did not put a stop to it, as she knew what was going on, she revealed that she only found out about it in the late stage when her daughter was going through the break up.

“She was so depressed.

“I suspected that it had been going on for about three months.”

When contacted by TnT Mirror, one of the male teachers said that the accusation made was a real shocker, and called for evidence to back up the claim.

He also said: “Maybe the parent should go to the police since it is a very serious accusation.”

He advised: “The best thing to do is to talk to the police and deal with it how it is supposed to be dealt with.”

The other teacher also felt it was a case of character assassination.

He said that the institution is very strict with students, but recalled just one ontoward incident when he smelt alcohol on a student’s breath and called the parents since “a teacher’s obligation is to the parents”.

He called the claim of sexual encounters with the female students “strange” and said: “I respect my students.

“They admire me.

“This is not a case where there is something physical.

“I would never in any way mislead any student.

“That will be breaking the cardinal rule.

“That is comprising your integrity as a teacher.

“Saying something and putting in air is doing harm to the detriment of hard workers.”

The supervisor of the programme stated that the people who taught there are very mature and would not do such a thing but the mother cautioned all parents of young girls to be aware of the dangers that are lurking inside of educational institutions.
