Madman chops UNC activist, cuss Manning, Panday

By Cecily Asson
A UNITED National Congress (UNC) activist almost lost his life when a crazed drug addict, armed with a cutlass, and cussing “black and white” the leaders of the country, in an unprovoked attack walked up to him and chopped him.

Sources told TnT Mirror the incident has left Ramdath Doobraj, former Caroni East constituency chairman shaken.

Following last Thursday afternoon’s incident, Doobraj of Madras Settlement, Cunupia, spent two days at the Medical Associates Nursing Home, nursing injuries to his left forearm.

“Doobraj was standing in his gap when the man ran up to him, whipped up a cutlass and started firing chops,” the family friend revealed.

“He was angry and was cussing up the leaders saying that Manning and Panday have him not sleeping at night.”

He took out his anger on an unsuspecting Doobraj.

“No one knew he had a cutlass in his hand when he came into the gap hurling his abuses.

“Luckily he got it on his forearm,” the friend went on.

“The situation could have been worse if the cutlass had caught him in his head.”

Mirror was told that the man is well-known in the area and is known to be unstable but he’s still allowed to roam freely.

The matter was reported to the Cunupia Police Station.

The man was later arrested.
