IT was a red night at Sangre Grande recently as supporters of the PNM from almost all their constancies converged on Grande and transformed the town into a sea of red.
A stage was constructed across one of the streets and it resembled Parliament, with only selected MPs of the PNM and their leader, Mr. Patrick Manning. Roger Boynes was the only MP not contesting that was present along with the two new candidates for Toco/Sangre Grande and Cumuto/Manzanilla.
There were several speakers but nobody brought the crowd alive as Minister Musapha Hamid, with his statement.
“COP thief Royal Bank logo and painted it red, PNM is red and they tried to thief our spot, Woodford Square.”
The crowds went into a frenzy of laughter along with the Prime Minister, Patrick Manning and the rest on the platform. When the Prime Minister spoke he touched on key issues such as tax breaks from $25,000 to $60,000 rapid rail development and water taxis to ease traffic woes.
Manning also called on supporters to put their house in order for elections, because “it is coming soon.”
“Make sure you register and check the list, for we are on the eve of the election,” he said.
“The Opposition thought it was a sprint race but it’s a marathon. “When the bell is rung PNM shall prevail.”
He ended by saying: “When a lion and a lamb lie down, a child shall emerge and lead, I am a child of God and shall lead you to the Promised Land filled with milk and honey.”
